Specimen is the first-hand information of bioscience research and the best material for practical teaching. For students, specimen is the best tool to cultivate the ability to observe, find problems and acquire new knowledge. Embedding insects in animals and tiny organs in plants in a transparent matrix becomes an embedded specimen.
Manufacturing process
·Softening: put the insect in a box of wet sand and then cover it. It can be softened in about 2-3 days. In order to prevent insects from mildew due to high humidity, drop several drops of carbolic acid or formaldehyde solution into the sand box.
·Pin: select an appropriate insect pin according to the size of the insect, insert it from the center of the butterfly's chest back, and leave an 8mm length. Then, aim the needle at the middle of the slot of the wing spreading plate and insert it vertically, so that the back of the insect body is parallel to the wing spreading plate. Then use small insect needles or tweezers to pull or pinch the thicker veins of the left and right front wings and pull forward until the trailing edge of the front wings is perpendicular to the body.
·Wing spreading and posture adjustment: press the transparent wing pressing strip folded in advance to make the trailing edge of its front wing coincide with the crease on the wing pressing strip. In order to make the standard wood look natural, insect needles can be used to poke and reshape butterfly wings at the wing veins at the base of wings, and the feet, tentacles and contacts are slightly sorted out.
·Dehydration and drying: check whether the specimen is made correctly and whether there is any error. If there is no error, the specimen can be placed in a 40 ℃ oven or in a ventilated and dry place for about two weeks to dry itself. After making specimens, we should carefully make original records.
The biological body is resistant to bacteria and mold after special processing. Damage by pests, etc. Resistant to acid and alkali corrosion, and the storage life is greatly extended. It can also more effectively protect the most authentic and natural forms and colors of animals and plants.
