The plant specimen we often say refers to the specimen bound on the table paper after pressing and drying the fresh plant material with absorbent paper. This kind of specimen is the most common form of plant specimen - wax leaf specimen, also known as pressed specimen. This type of specimen is an important tool for biology teaching and scientific research, and its production method is not complex. Whether you are a plant lover or want to experience the process of specimen production, you can test your skills.
1. Collection. The most important thing in collecting plant specimens is the integrity of the specimens. Dwarf herbs should collect complete plants as far as possible, including roots, stems, leaves, flowers and fruits; Tall plants can be collected in sections so that they can have roots, stems, leaves, flowers and fruits respectively. Tag and number after collection; Record the collector and time and place.
2. Pressed specimens. Before pressing the specimen, simply sort out the specimen and remove rotten leaves, residual leaves and root soil. When pressing the specimen, first put the specimen on the papyrus, sort out the shape of the specimen, expand the leaves as much as possible, and make the same specimen see the shape of the front and rear leaves at the same time. In order to avoid adhesion between flowers and papyrus, it can be covered with toilet paper. Next, separate cardboard and corrugated aluminum plate, stack several specimens up and down, and finally fix them with splints.
3. Dry the specimen. The drying of plant specimens can absorb the water of plants by changing straw paper every day and make them dry slowly. This drying time is relatively long and is also affected by weather temperature and air humidity. At present, due to the large amount of samples produced in the school laboratory, most of them use the drying method. Ordinary small dryers and heaters can be used for drying equipment. The corrugated aluminum plate used in the pressing process can heat the specimen evenly and shorten the drying time.
